About SevenAcreSky

[Damon Dean writes for four reasons: to wonder, imagine, explore, and discover. With a passion to write for children, poetry fits nicely into his endeavors. He is a retired educator living in northeast Arkansas. You can find more about this learning, growing writer at his blog, http://sevenacresky.com .]

Children must have the chance to learn…and I hope that what I write gives them that opportunity.
They must also learn to wonder, to imagine, to explore. How else can they doubt, affirm, enlarge or engage their learning in their lives?

I want to write to give them the adventure of wondering, imagining, exploring, and discovering.

So…outdoors, animals, nature are predominant in my writing. The simple seven acres of sky above where I lived when my writing life began  represented that for me.
I love first the adventure that the world around us offers to children; and, secondly, the reflection that creation provides to us of our own lives as people in it.

We were meant, I believe, to manage the world around us from the beginning of creation.
That means enjoyment of our natural world– and a conscious, intentional stewardship of it.

To do that well, we must do four things:

  • Wonder

  • Imagine

  • Explore

  • Discover

Each process in this short list is dependent on the other three, but they are not necessarily sequential.

Reading prompts and enables each of those four processes. So my intention is to write with this in mind.
